A trip to West Sussex to visit Arundel Castle. Set high on a hill, this great castle enjoys magnificent views across the South Downs and the river Arun. The original castle was founded in 1067. However in the late 1800’s it was almost completely rebuilt in Gothic style and is considered one of the great works of Victorian England and is filled with fascinating furniture, tapestries and a rare collection of paintings by renowned artists including Van Dyck, Gainsborough and Canaleto. Weather permitting you might like to take a packed lunch to eat in of of the many themed gardens whilst you marvel at the explosion of colour of over 60000 tulips in bloom. Or you could purchase food at the castle restaurant. A passenger buggy is available for tours of the grounds and gardens.
